174th Attack Wing Thanks CAP for Reaper Mission Support

The Syracuse, New York-based Air National Guard’s 174th Attack Wing presented Civil Air Patrol with a “Thank You” picture signed by the wing’s members in tribute to CAP’s more than three years of support for the U.S. Air Force’s MQ-9 Reaper RPA (remotely piloted airplane) pilot training.

From June 2016 through August, CAP aircrews provided Federal Aviation Administration-required escort flights for Reaper flights out of Syracuse. In all, CAP conducted 1,746 escort flights totaling 2,879 hours, aiding in the graduation of 345 RPA pilots

The print presented to CAP depicts an escort mission and s signed by 174th Attack Wing members, with “We couldn’t have gotten off the ground without you!” engraved on the picture’s frame.

CAP continues to actively support the MQ-9 Reaper RPA escort mission in Texas at Ellington Joint Reserve Base, Texas, with the 147th Attack Wing.
