Air Force Marathon Honoring CAP Anniversary
The U.S. Air Force Marathon program will honor Civil Air Patrol’s 80th anniversary as part of its "History & Heritage" Virtual Race Series in 2022. The medal for the event will feature the J-3 Cub aircraft with CAP logo on display at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
Last year CAP’s National Task Force for Wellness promoted the virtual Air Force Marathon as a way to end the "Year-of-the-Pillar-of-the-Body" and its emphasis on member fitness. The national virtual event was such a success that the program created six virtual "races" in 2021. Each race medal features one of the aircraft displayed at the museum.
The Ohio Wing will support the in-person race taking place in September, though a virtual option is still available for those who wish to participate.
