Arizona Cadet Commended for Post-Collision Actions

Cadet commendation

azlogoCadet Senior Airman Tony Henry’s quick actions in tending to a motorcyclist who ran into the cadet's vehicle earned him an Arizona Wing Certificate of Commendation for Humanitarian/Lifesaving Action.

Just three days after a weekly Sky Harbor Composite Squadron meeting that featured a safety briefing covering emergency response tools and guidelines, Henry was making a left-hand turn at a busy Phoenix intersection Aug. 31 when a speeding biker struck his vehicle’s passenger side.

Even though he was a relatively new driver, Henry showed presence of mind in turning his attention to the injured biker.

AZskyharborAfter lifting the man’s visor, he found the cyclist was coughing up blood and bleeding from the nose. When others stopped to help, Henry advised them against removing the injured man’s helmet to avoid potential further harm. He promptly called 911 for emergency assistance.

Col. Robert Pinckard, the wing’s commander until Jan. 6, presented the Sky Harbor Composite Squadron cadet with the commendation.
