Delaware Members Promote CAP Opportunities at Tuskegee Airmen Event

DE WingThe Delaware Wing showcased its dedication to aerospace education and at the inaugural Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day Expo at Dover Air Force Base on March 28.

Black Women in Aviation and Legacy Flight Academy organized the event to honor the Tuskegee Airmen's legacy and inspire the next generation of leaders in aviation and military service.

Ten adult members and 16 cadets from four Delaware Wing squadrons the Coastal Patrol Base 2 Memorial Composite Squadron and the Brandywine, Delaware Air National Guard, and Middletown cadet squadrons provided support throughout the day.

Wartime recollections

Under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jean Marie-Nixon, wing director of aerospace education, the members set up and staffed interactive displays featuring Civil Air Patrol STEM Kits, including Sphero robotics, model rockets, Snap Circuits, and aviation learning materials.

The hands-on exhibits offered those in attendance, including 150 high school and college students, opportunities to explore various STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) aspects of aviation.

The wing also set up an information table highlighting CAP’s role plays in serving communities and promoting aerospace education nationwide. Visitors could learn about the organization’s programs, including emergency services, cadet programs, and aerospace education initiatives.

The members also interacted with active service members and veterans from the U.S. Air Force. The CAP contingent’s day concluded with a tour of a C-5 Galaxy aircraft.
