Former National Commander, 90, Dies at Calif. Home


Brig. Gen. Howard L. Brookfield, Civil Air Patrol national commander from August 1982-August 1984, died today at his home in Whittier, California. He was 90.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Temple Ner Tamid, 10629 Lakewood Blvd., in Downey. About 1 p.m., following the service, internment will be at Covenant Lawn at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, which can be reached by Gate 19 off Workman Mill Road or Gate 20 off Pioneer Boulevard. Following internment all funeral attendees are invited to join the family for a Meal of Consolation at Temple Ner Tamid in Downey.
