Gaylord Named to Take Wisconsin Wing Command

Lt. Col. Patrick Gaylord

WIwingLt. Col. Patrick Gaylord has been selected as the Wisconsin Wing’s next commander, succeeding Col. Denese Helgeland.

Gaylord, a 27-year member of Civil Air Patrol, has been the wing’s vice commander since May 2018. He previously served as the wing’s Northeast Group commander and has held such staff positions as wing assistant director of operations and chief of staff – Mission Support, as well as squadron operations officer. 

He is a CAP senior pilot, mission pilot, mission check pilot, and air operations branch director and is working toward qualification as a small Unmanned Aerial Systems mission pilot.  His Federal Aviation Administration ratings include private airplane, single-engine land, instrument airplane, commercial rotorcraft – helicopter, rotorcraft – helicopter certificated flight instructor, and Part 107 sUAS certificates.  

A resident of Appleton, Gaylord is an IT senior staff engineer for a major insurance carrier as. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
