Hawaii Members Join Pearl Harbor Remembrance

Paying tribute

HIwingEvery Dec. 7, people from all over the world unite to honor and remember the brave men and women who lost their lives during the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941.   

At 7:55 a.m. Hawaii Wing members and others commemorated the 82nd anniversary with the theme "Legacy of Hope.” Those gathered observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of the fallen. A wreath was laid to symbolize their gratitude and the commitment never to forget their sacrifice.  

Cadet 2nd Lt. Noah Araki of the 66th Composite Squadron and Cadet Maj. Jon Salvador of the Wheeler  Composite Squadron represented the Hawaii Wing in presenting remembrance wreaths, joining the ranks of active-duty members of the U.S. Air Forceand HIhickamU.S. HIwheelerSpace Force and also National Park Rangers.

"It was an honorable moment to be a part of such a historic event," Salvador said.

Wing members joined with Harry Chandler, who was serving at Pearl Harbor as a Navy corpsman during the attack and who turned 103 this year, and women from the American Rosie the Riveter Association in paying their respects at the USS Arizona Memorial.
