Kan. Wing Assisting with Flooding Disaster Response

1st Lt. Cole Oakland
Public Information Officer
Kansas Wing

Kansas Wing members are providing aerial photos, helping staff the State Emergency Operations Center and assisting with filling sandbags in response to flooding across the state.

Responding to a request from the state Division of Emergency Management to assist with ongoing disaster, members began staffing the center Monday – a role expected to continue through Sunday evening – and helped with sandbagging in Chapman, Salina and Solomon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday, two Kansas Wing planes provided aerial photography of flooding. The images were provided to the state so officials could better understand the floods’ impact.

Col. Linette Lahan, Kansas Wing commander, is overseeing the wing’s participation in the disaster response

“Kansas volunteers have a history of willingness to assist their fellow citizens, and that remains evident this week,” Lahan said. “We take pride in being trained, equipped and prepared to assist when called.”
