Mentoring Program Launched

Civil Air Patrol’s Mentoring Steering Committee has launched CAP’s Mentoring Program in conjunction with National Mentoring Month.

The committee created this program to bring together members interested in helping others be successful, productive CAP members and assisting those who need help navigating the organization’s programs or improving their skills.

Members with a passion for developing people and sharing their knowledge and experience are invited to consider becoming a mentor. Mentors will provide expertise in the various specialty tracks as well as leadership.

The Mentoring Team will match mentors to mentees individually. Mentors will have the option to assist one member or a group, while mentees can request an individual mentor or join a small group.

To learn more about the program, find mentoring resources and sign up as a mentor or mentee, go here.

Members who volunteer for this program will participate in a formal mentoring relationship for an agreed-on duration, but the informal relationship can continue for as long as desired and led to lasting friendships.

As Maj. Gen. Mark Smith, national commander, has said, "Effective mentorship unleashes the potential locked inside our people, allowing them to grow and achieve not just success, but their dreams and aspirations."
