Mo. Unit Focuses on Flight

Lt. Col. David A. Miller

North Central Region

Warmer weather and improved wing-wide activity levels because of dropping coronavirus infection rates across the state prompted members of the Missouri Wing’s Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron to take  to the skies.

Cadets learned directly about flight through orientation rides in CAP aircraft and indirectly on the ground through flight simulators and instruction by pilots – including a former commercial airline pilot – about aircraft instruments and preflight evaluation.

In addition, senior members received aircrew training for mission scanner and mission observer positions.

“The cadets were fully engaged on the ground and in the air, and it was nice to get some crew accomplishments checked off for the senior members as well,” said Senior Member Damon Overboe, a pilot and assistant education and training officer for the squadron.
