New York Members Meet with Legislative Squadron

Capitol visit

NYWG patch (final design, 7-21)Members from across the New York Wing traveled to the state Capitol recently to meet with lawmakers and Gov. Kathy Hochul's staff.

Led by Col. Bill Martin, wing commander, and Lt. Col. Michael Woolfolk, assistant wing vice commander, cadets and adult volunteers met with members of the wing's Legislative Squadron to relate their experiences in Civil Air Patrol and advocate for an annual appropriation. The wing receives support in the form of grant funding from the state.

“I am proud to lead their Legislative Squadron," said Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, who holds the CAP rank of lieutenant colonel, as do all members of the squadron. "We are all grateful for their service as members of the U.S. Air Force auxiliary.”

Martin and his staff also met with the governor’s senior policy adviser for public safety, Alyson Baker.

Members were recognized on the floor of the State Assembly, followed by a tour of the historic Capitol building.
