North Carolina Squadron Salutes Honor Flight Veterans

NCwingNCwingFifteen members of the North Carolina Wing’s Asheville Composite Squadron were on hand Oct. 14 at Asheville Regional Airport to help welcome home scores of veterans from their Blue Ridge Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

The Civil Air Patrol contingent joined with local Junior ROTC cadets, veterans color guards, and hundreds of families and friends at the airport. The Asheville Composite members stood in line holding American flags, forming a tunnel of honor for the returning veterans as they entered the hangar.

The Blue Ridge Honor Flight has transported more than 170,000 veterans to the nation’s capital to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifice.
