Texas Squadron Food Drive Nets 105+ Lbs., $140+

Members of the Texas Wing’s Abilene Composite Squadron collected more than 105 pounds of food and over $140 through a food drive Nov. 27 in support of Communities in Schools of Clyde.

The donations will be used to fill backpacks given to more than 80 students across all four Clyde Independent School District campuses.

“Programs like this saved my life as a kid,” one donor told Cadet Senior Master Sgt. John Rollyson and Cadet Airman Jerry Wood, tears in his eyes.

“It was a nice feeling,” Wood said. “I love the supportive community we live in.”

Lt. Col. Jed Taylor, Abilene squadron commander, said he was “encouraged by the cadets who are enthusiastic about helping their community.
