Lt. Col. Jamie Griffith is the next Indiana Wing commander, Col. Rickey Oeth, Great Lakes Region commander, has announced.

Griffith joined Civil Air Patrol in 1993 as a cadet in Indianapolis’ Weir Cook Cadet Squadron, which she subsequently commanded from April 2007-July 2008. She has held leadership roles in the Indiana and Mississippi wings, in Great Lakes Region staff, and at the national level in the National Emergency Services Academy Squadron.

She has served as Indiana Wing deputy commander since Aug. 30 after previously filling that position from May-August 2021.

Griffith is a Level 2 incident commander, has graduated from CAP’s National Safety Officer College, and has completed both the senior and cadet training programs.

In 2021 she was named CAP national Cadet Programs Officer of the Year for her achievements as Indiana Wing Group V commander.

She has served as the Great Lakes Region’s officer for crisis intervention services and for character development and as the Indiana Wing’s director of education and training and of emergency services, administrator and officer for drug demand reduction, and officer for plans and programs and for testing.

Outside CAP, Griffith is a homemaker and mother to five children, three of whom have been CAP members.

“For the past 30 years, I have witnessed the incredible impact of the Indiana Wing’s 1,200 volunteers on our state,” she said.

“From providing over a million meals during COVID-19 to searching for lost aviators and directly supporting the U.S. Air Force’s missions, their contributions are inspiring. I am excited to continue serving the wing’s senior and cadet members in this new role within an organization that holds a special place in my heart.”
