Civil Air Patrol’s aerospace education focus took center stage April 9 when members of the Illinois Wing’s Springfield Composite Squadron shared introductory model rocketry concepts at the Central Illinois STEM Fair in Rochester, where the squadron participated as an exhibitor.
Cadets worked with hundreds of children visiting the Rochester Athletic Center, explaining the concepts of how fizzy and stomp rockets work.
Through hands-on demonstrations, the children were able to make rockets and set them off.
