Col. Todd Scioneaux is the new commander of the Louisiana Wing after succeeding Col. James Viney in a change of command ceremony May 3 in Baton Rouge.
Scioneaux has served in many roles since joining Civil Air Patrol in 1988, including Southwest Region inspector general, national complaint resolution officer, and Louisiana Wing inspector general and director of logistics. He is a graduate of CAP’s National Inspector General College.
“Civil Air Patrol has a long history of service to Louisiana and the nation as an auxiliary of the Air Force,” Scioneaux said. “With hurricane season just a month away, our emergency services crews are prepared to answer the call.
“Our aerospace education program is vibrant, and we are working with teachers and schools across Louisiana to bring STEM- and aviation-related opportunities to students.
“Our cadet program will continue to excel in leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character curricula, and I plan to involve them in disaster relief mission support.
“We will grow and continue to provide the exceptional service that we have been working to deliver to our communities, state, and nation since 1941.”
His CAP decorations and awards include the Exceptional Service Award, the National Commander’s Commendation, many other Commander’s Commendation Awards, and the Disaster Relief Ribbon with a “V” device. He was named CAP 2018 Inspector General of the Year.
