Cadets from the New York Wing’s Westchester Cadet Squadron put their aviation and aerospace knowledge to work in helping local Girl Scouts from Troop 1165 earn their Aviation Day patch.

The event was sponsored by  the Greater New York Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, who organized the activities, and hosted by PepsiCo Corporate Aviation in its hangar at Westchester County Airport.

The Girl Scouts rotated through different modules, including a corporate jet tour with PepsiCo staff, an emergency vehicle tour of the fire truck with airport operations staff, aviation activities covering the phonetic alphabet and air traffic control  communications, a general aviation tour learning pilot preflight inspections of a six-seat aircraft, and a presentation on air racing.

The participants received their Aviation Day patches as well as a “swag bag” containing aviation-themed pens, lanyards, coloring booklets, pins, and more._____Lt. Col. Franklin BirtAssistant Public Affairs OfficerNew York Wing
